IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES

GENERAL PROCESS TO FOLLOW TO INITIATE FIRST TIME COURSE OFFERING:

  1. High School personnel (administrator, guidance counselor, teacher) contacts SUNY College in High School Office or department chair expressing interest in CIHS course
  2. Distribute CIHS Information Packet to prospective teacher/school – check web site
  3. Discuss student interests/needs. Review list of courses available to high schools from SUNY Cobleskill.
  4. CIHS representative and/or HS personnel contacts respective SUNY Department Chair
  5. Both parties identify interested course(s), discuss course outline, textbooks and/or resources, outcomes, Annual CIHS Academic Calendar, etc.
  6. Parties conduct a curriculum mapping of course for quality assurance.
  7. Discuss formal process to approve faculty instructor
  8. CIHS instructor is approved as an adjunct professor for the semester (or full year).
  9. Complete Partnership Agreement between College and HS.
    FORMS: Partnership Agreement , Application for Admission, Registration Form
  10. HS instructor and College Department representative meet for orientation, training, collaboration and support prior to beginning of instruction (i.e. August)
  11. HS students register at the HS for the course(s) by 2nd week of school (complete CIHS Application for Admission and Registration Form)
    FORMS: Partnership Agreement , Application for Admission, Registration Form
  12. HS collects tuition fees for each student and forwards a school check  to SUNY
  13. HS notifies SUNY of any student needing financial assistance
  14. Representative from CIHS Program visits HS prior to final enrollment if requested
