<title>Dr. Debra Thatcher Appointed Acting President</title>

<description>The State University Board of Trustees today approved the appointment of Dr. Debra Thatcher as acting president at SUNY Cobleskill, effective June 1, 2013.  Her appointment represents the first step in the process, announced last month by SUNY Chancellor NancyZimpher, that will lead to a search for a president for SUNY Cobleskill in Fall 2014 with the goal of having a president in place by the summer of 2015,&quot; said Candace S. Vancko, who has served as officer-in-charge at SUNY Cobleskill and president at SUNY Delhi since August 2011. Dr. Vancko will return to SUNY Delhi effective June 1 as its president on a full-time basis.</description>

<title>Two SUNY Cobleskill Students Receive Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence</title>

<description>Two SUNY Cobleskill students were among the 243 students who were presented with the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence by SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher at Empire State Plaza Convention Center on Thursday, April 4. They are Maii Zikry, an international student from Cairo, Egypt, who will receive her Bachelor of Science in Communications this year with a 4.0 GPA, and Marten Peterson, a Bio-technology Bachelor of Science major who will graduate this year with multiple honors and a 3.69 GPA.  Both students will be honored on the SUNY Cobleskill campus at an awards convocation on April 19th in Bouck Hall.  </description>

Sprague is only the fourth faculty member in SUNY Cobleskill history to earn the SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professorship, which honors mastery of teaching. For the prestigious tribute to be conferred, candidates must have demonstrated consistently superior mastery of teaching, outstanding service to students, and commitment to their ongoing growth, scholarship and professional growth, and adherence to rigorous academic standards and requirements.   Further, a faculty member must have attained and held the rank of full professor for five years, have completed at least three years of full-time teaching on the nominating campus, 10 years of full-time teaching within the SUNY system, and must have regularly carried a full-time teaching load as defined by the campus at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional level.  </description>
