Commencement FAQs








Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015.







Our Commencement Ceremony will be held outdoors, Crittenden Athletic Field, weather permitting.
Ladies please wear suitable footwear.   Ceremony location will be decided on Wednesday, May 6, 2015

How long does the ceremony last?


The ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours.




Is there a reception afterward?


A reception will be held in Bouck Ballroom immediately following the ceremony. Graduates and their guests are cordially invited to join faculty and staff for this occasion.





How many guests may I bring?

Each student who confirms their parcipation will receive three tickets.

Only guests with a ticket will be allowed to enter Bouck Hall Gymnasium.






Can I get extra tickets?

Due to the popularity of commencement, extra tickets are not available.




Is there reserved seating?

There is no reserved seating for guests. It is recommended that guests arrive early.




What about handicapped access?

If you need accommodations during the commencement ceremony due to physical disability, please contact the Office of Campus Events and Conferences at (518)255-5690 or email us by May 1. If you do not let us know what you need by May 1, we will not be able to accommodate you on the day of commencement.




How does a graduating student get the cap and gown?

Graduation regalia will be available to purchase in the Campus Bookstore on April 1, 2015. No need to pre-order.






Is there a charge for cap and gown?

Yes. Students can purchase regalia at the Campus Bookstore. 




Will I get my diploma on Commencement day?


Diplomas will not be distributed at Commencement. They will be mailed to each graduate's addresslisted on their graduation application,approximately 2 months after certification by the faculty that all graduation requirements have been met.




How do I get my diploma if I don't attend?

Your diploma will be mailed to your address listed on your graduation application, approximately 2 months after certification by the faculty that all graduation requirements have been met.



Where will my diploma be sent?

To assure that your diploma gets to you, be sure that the college has your permanent address. You should contact the Registrar (518) 255-5522 to make sure that they have your correct address.
