Continuing Student Scholarships

  1. Harry Abrahamsen Scholarship – Continuing average student with high potential and a GPA of 2.5 or higher who demonstrates leadership ability and volunteer work.
  2. Mr. & Mrs. Steven M. Ackerknecht Scholarship – Continuing Equine Major who has demonstrated financial need, academic promise and has been actively involved in student leadership initiatives. Preferred GPA of a least 2.5.
  3. Agricultural Engineering Faculty Scholarship – Agricultural Engineering continuing student with a 2.5 GPA or higher in all major curriculum courses and based on scholarship, campus activities and economic need.
  4. Cole Barnard Scholarship - Continuing CAHT associates degree student with a 3.0 GPA or greater.
  5. William (Bill) Barton Scholarship –For continuing Bachelor of Technology students majoring in an Agriculture and Natural Resources major, with preference given to dairy students. Students must have a 3.25 or higher GPA, be an outstanding campus citizen and display potential for making a positive contribution to the agricultural community.
  6. Andy Bates Scholarship – Continuing students in Agricultural Engineering or Turfgrass Management who have completed 30 or more college credits and have a 2.5 or higher cumulative average at SUNY Cobleskill.  Awarded to students who display potential for making a positive contribution to the agricultural engineering and/or turfgrass industry. Possess a high interest in golf course equipment design, manufacturing, and use.  Outstanding campus citizen.

  1. Effie Bennett-Powe Scholarship – Early Childhood students who have:
    1. Completed at least 30 credits
    2. Documented financial need
    3. GPA of 3.0 or higher.  
    4. Participate in a leadership experience in anti-bias/multicultural settings such as social agencies, clubs, letter writing campaigns, workshops, etc.


    1. The course ECHD 251, Anti-Bias Strategies:  A Human Relations Approach
    2. Submit your application and a one-page statement requesting the scholarship; highlight your leadership experiences in clubs, coursework etc.  Also please provide two letters of recommendation, two of which must be from ECHD faculty.
  1. Derwin and Annie R. Bennett Scholarship -   Continuing Business Administration, Agricultural, Graphic Design or Social Science major who is also a member of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).  Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must also be in a student leadership position or experience on campus.  If an EOP student is not available, a general admit student can receive the award.
  2. Joanne Signor Braman Science Scholarship – Applicant must be a student in Biotechnology, Chemical Technology, Histotechnology or Health Science Studies who has completed two semesters with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Applicant must be active in college and civic activities.
  3. William Brophy Scholarship -- Scholarship will be awarded to a continuing student in the Business Division with 2.75 GPA or greater.  The recipient should demonstrate academic promise.
  4. Brown’s Feed Scholarship – Continuing students who are Dairy Animal Science majors with at least a 3.00 GPA and participate in extra-curricular activies
  5. Walter J . Clark College Foundation BT Scholarship – For continuing or internal transfer Bachelor of Technology students in an Agricultural & Natural Resources major.  Students must have a 3.25 or higher college GPA and demonstrate active involvement in SUNY Cobleskill college and student activities.  Student financial need will also be considered.
  6. Cobleskill Auxiliary Services Scholarship - Continuing student who received one of the following scholarships: Wheeler, Alumni Margin of Excellence, or Student Ambassador.
  7. Cobleskill Elks Scholarship – Continuing Scholarship Co. resident (one male and one female)
  8. Donald & Susan Cohen Mathematics Scholarship – Continuing student having a major in mathematics and a B average in all mathematics courses taken at Cobleskill, including at least Calculus I.  The student must also have an overall GPA of at least 2.75.
  9. Dewar Foundation District Scholarship (renewable) --  Applicant must be a resident of the City and Town of Oneonta or the Town of Milford, Laurens, Maryland or Otego in Otsego County or the Town of Davenport in Delaware County.  Criteria will be based mainly on academic performance.
  10. Bob and Holly Emmons Turfgrass Scholarship – Continuing Turf student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher with a good work ethic and committed to the turf grass industry.  Along with the scholarship application please submit an essay about yourself along with a recommendation from a Turf faculty member.
  11. Marcia Hammond Germain Scholarship -- Selection based on academic achievement, college and community service and financial need.
  12. Greenlees Scholarship –   Continuing student majoring in Business and Computer Technologies.
  13. Dr . Thomas J. Haas & Mrs. Marcia J. Haas Scholarship – A continuing student in the Early Childhood Bachelor of Science major.  Minimum GPA of 3.0.  Also based on financial need and academic promise.
  14. Albie Harris Scholarship --   To a continuing student who is a resident of Schoharie County with a GPA of 2.5 or better.  Recipient must demonstrate leadership and contributed time and service to the College and community.
  15. William and Peter Haughton Memorial Scholarship – Agriculture continuing associate majoring in Equine with concentration on work performed in the equine industry during the summer between freshman and senior year.
  16. Gerald & Nancy Hisert Scholarship – Continuing student with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Priority goes to a student majoring in Business; preferred recipient is pursuing a career in business.  Priority  is given to a student who is a descendent of the Hisert family.
  17. Jack Ingels Scholarship – Second year Landscape Contracting student transferring into or continuing in the Bachelor Program with a 2.5 and above GPA, subject to renewal for one year if the student remains in the program and retains a GPA of 2.5 or above.
  18. International Student Scholarship –   Continuing international student in good standing.
  19. Albert “Nick” Iorio Community Service Scholarship –   Continuing seniors who have completed a minimum of two semesters at SUNY Cobleskill.  Awarded to students who by their actions and volunteer leadership, improve the quality of life on the college campus and in the Cobleskill community.  Recipients shall be outstanding campus citizens.
  20. Robert D . Marshall Scholarship –   Continuing  Fisheries and Wildlife Bachelor student with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.  Good Community Citizen and dedicated to his/her field of study. 
  1. Merrill Family Foundation Scholarship –   Continuing students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and active citizenship in the college and/or the community.  APPLICANTS MUST FILL OUT SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION AVAILABLE AT THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE, KNAPP HALL, ROOM 118B.
  2. Steven A. Milavec Memorial  Scholarship – Continuing Business student from Otsego or Schoharie Counties majoring/minoring in Technology or a technology-related field with a 2.5 or above GPA.
  3. K. Delphenia Nessle Scholarship --   Continuing students who are enrolled in Early Childhood Division and demonstrates financial need and academic promise.
  4. Stan & Pat Nevins Scholarship – Continuing student with proven academic skills of a 2.5 GPA or higher, pursuing a teaching career in any field, and shows financial need.
  5. Norton Family Scholarship – Returning student from Schoharie County with a minimum GPA of 3.0 majoring in Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science (excluding equine), Fisheries and Wildlife or Plant Science.  Also based on financial need.  Scholarship is renewable provided satisfactory academic progress is maintained and criteria continues to be met.
  6. Jane and Ken Olcott Scholarship -   Continuing BT student in Agriculture Engineering with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.  Preference given to students with experience in Post Ag. Secondary Student.  If eligible student with experience in PAS is not found, consider experience in other campus organizations.
  7. Kristen Peck Memorial Scholarship :  For incoming and continuing students who are pursuing an Agricultural and Natural Resources major who have demonstrated academic achievement, exhibit strong leadership qualities and actively participate in FFA and/or 4H.
  8. Kevin and Roberta O'Donnell Family Scholarship :  Continuing student with a minimum GPA of 2.5 preferably majoring in Culinary Arts or Business and have financial need.  Student must also participate in Community Service Activities an provide documentation of community service performed
  9. Lt . Col. Leo A. Polinsky Memorial Scholarship – For continuing or internal transfer (preference given to internal transfers) Bachelor of Technology students majoring in an Agricultural or Natural Resources major.  Students must have a 3.25 or higher college GPA.
  10. Martha S . Pratt Scholarship -  AG Returning major in Floriculture or Plant Science.
  11. Neal V . Robbins Presidential Scholarship – For students who have shown exceptional leadership in campus activities.
  12. Rua and Sons Scholarship – Continuing Business students from Schoharie County with a GPA of at least 2.5 who demonstrate financial need.
  13. Gerald E. and Richard Schopinsky Scholarship –   Minimum of 4 scholarships and a maximum of 8.  The four shall consist of a freshman, sophomore (two year school) and junior and senior ( in the four year academic program).  The remaining (up to four) shall be all second year students in the two year program, for which the college was founded and that which the Schopinsky family members attended.
  14. Max V. Shaul Memorial Scholarship – Transferring to a four-year agriculture college to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.
  15. Dr. John F Shear Scholarship – Continuing Agricultural Business student in their 3rd year with a 2.75 GPA or higher when including all college credits completed and a 3.25 GPA or higher when including all SUNY Cobleskill Agricultural Business courses.  Additional criteria – Recipient must 1. Have completed at least 60 credit hours of SUNY Cobleskill credits while a full time college student, 2. Have completed at least 30 hours of college credit in Agricultural courses while a full time college student; 3. Be enrolled a full time SUNY Cobleskill student in an Agricultural Business bachelor degree program for the upcoming fall semester.  Preference will be given for students showing evidence of work experience in an agricultural enterprise.
  16. Ingrid L. Shepard Scholarship – Continuing Plant Science student with at least a 2.5 GPA, academic promise and leadership skills.
  17. Sidney-Gaffney Scholarship --   Continuing students based on academic performance.
  18. Elbridge M. and Edna W. Smith Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship  (PTK) –  The recipient of this scholarship shall be a continuing student who has demonstrated financial need and has earned a first semester or first year B (3.5+) average, thereby qualifying academically for Phi Theta Kappa membership.
  19. Soil Science Bachelor – AG first-year or returning Bachelor student specializing in Soil Science.
  20. Matt Tweedie Memorial Scholarship – Continuing Ag major in the AAS or Bachelor's program who is an active and participating member of the American Animal Producers Club.  Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Preference given to those with a financial need and to former or current 4-H and FFA members.  A 500 word essay (stating ideals, goals, future endeavors and how will degree at Cobleskill be used for future growth) is also required.
  21. VanDeusen/MacKay Scholarship  -- Upper level baccalaureate student who has demonstrated an interest in (passion for) sustainable agriculture.  The student must have achieved a 3.0 GPA.  Preference will be given to Schoharie County residents and/or non-traditional age student.
  22. Frank Westfall Jr. Memorial Scholarship – Continuing senior who have completed a minimum of two semesters at SUNY Cobleskill.  Awarded to students in the Agriculture Division.  Recipients shall be academically successful and outstanding campus citizens who, by their actions, improve the quality of life on the SUNY Cobleskill campus.
  23. Zeta Alpha Phi (ZAP) Scholarship --   Applicant must be a continuing student and a dependent of a Cobleskill ZAP brother; GPA 2.75 or higher.
  24. Class of 1956 Scholarship –   Continuing student with a 2.5 GPA or greater.  A student leader with community involvement.





  1.   Meg Pearson Scholarship  -  For students graduating from SUNY Cobleskill with an associates degree, who will be enrolled at another institution in an academic program resulting in a degree related to Math or Science.  Preference shall be given to students graduating with an AS degree in Health Science Studies and enrolled in the Early Assurance to Medical School Program.  The recipient of this scholarship must graduate with a 3.5 GPA or better.  While at SUNY Cobleskill the recipient must have made a positive contribution to the campus community whether it be through participation in Student Government, sports or some other extracurricular activity.  This is not a financial need based scholarship.



Continuing student scholarships will be available from April 1st to early May.
