SUNY Cobleskill to Offer Six New Summer Camps

This summer youth of all ages and adults can try their hand at any of the six new summer camp programs SUNY Cobleskill has to offer.

The Kids Cooking Camp, Adult Cooking Camp, Welcome to My Movie Premier Camp, and Lego Camp give children a chance to work on writing, cooking or even movie editing skills this summer.

New this summer is Camp Millionaire designed to teach campers how to make their money work for them. The day camp is set for July 28-August 1 and costs $150.

Fiction Writing Camp, also a new camp, is offered August 4-8 and will help students develop their writing craft in a series of workshops. Classes run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are geared toward eighth through twelfth grade students. Cost is $130.

SUNY Cobleskill is again offering the Crime Scene Investigation Camp where campers will receive expert instruction from FBI investigators, state police, ballistics experts, scientists and a professional psychological profiler and finish their week by presenting their case. The camp is offered for seventh through ninth grade students June 23-27 and for tenth through twelfth grade students July 7-11.

Campers may choose to live on campus during the session or to commute. Cost for resident camp is $850 and includes all meals, lodging and additional activities. Cost for non-resident campers is $300.

The Music Art and Recreation Camp (MARC) for children 7 to 12 years of age provides campers with opportunities to develop their singing and artistic skills through fun and exciting activities and recreation. July 7-11 and 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and led by an experienced and talented staff, cost of the program is $130 for the session or $240 for two weeks and includes lunch daily.

Theater Workshop for Young People is perfect for children ages 7 through 12 who love singing, dancing, acting, or just want to find out what it feels like to be in the spotlight. Held July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., cost for this camp is $130, which includes lunch daily.
Robotics Camp is a four-day camp where students learn about physics, gears, ratios, torque and horse power as each team builds and programs a self-guided robot using Lego Team Challenge Sets. The cost is $130 and includes lunch.

John Smith’s Wrestling Camp is coming to SUNY Cobleskill in June. The Team Camp will be held June 28-July 2, the 10-Day Intensive Camp and the Training Camp will be held June 28-July 6 and the Competition/Technique Camp is set for July 2-6. John Smith’s Wrestling Camps are held across the country and are led by John Smith, known as “the greatest wrestler in American history,” winning six world championships from 1988-92. The Competition Camp is for youth in grades 6 through 12 and costs $285 for non-residents (no meals included) and $385 for resident campers. The Training Camp is for youth ages 12 to 19 and costs $650 for non-residents and $750 for resident campers. Team camp: $375 for resident and $275 for non-residents.

Equine Day Camp is for both boys and girls ages 6-17 years. This program includes two riding lessons per day with highly qualified instructors. The Residential Equine Camp is for girls ages 10-17 years. The residential and day camps run from June 30- July 4, July 14-18, July 21-25, July 28-August 1, August 4-8, August 11-15 and costs $325 per week. Residential Camp $850 per week
