John Deere Construction and Forestry

Overview

The John Deere Construction and Forestry Equipment Technology Concentration is a two-year degree program under the existing Diesel Technology AAS. A successful graduate of this program will be granted an Associate in Applied Science degree. The curriculum will emphasize the development of technical competencies and professional abilities needed for an entering dealership service technician. The student will attend both classroom lectures and laboratory sections which will concentrate both on diagnosis and repair of equipment specific to the sponsoring dealer. This program will provide a unique opportunity for students to work at a John Deere dealership.

John Deere Sponsoring Dealership

Students in the John Deere Tech program must be sponsored by an authorized John Deere dealership for their paid internship. Dealers provide students with a hands-on, real-world experience for a minimum of 16 weeks. With over 1,500 John Deere dealerships nationwide, students will have a variety of sponsorship options. Students may request assistance in locating a sponsoring dealership.

Suggested Course Sequence

The total degree program is completed in 21 months. Four semesters are spent in school and a minimum of 16 weeks (640 hours) in the sponsoring dealership. The student will be involved in a work experience during semester/summer breaks. Subjects covered in the classroom will be followed by related work experiences at the dealership.
