Graduate Checklist

Commencement to Start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday

Due to the forecasted weather, Commencement this Saturday will begin one hour earlier than previously announced. The ceremony will take place outdoors starting at 10:00 a.m. All other aspects of the day remain the same.

 


 

Participation

To take part in the Commencement ceremony, you must submit your online graduation application by Monday, April 20. If your graduation application is submitted after Monday, April 20, your name will not be listed in the Commencement program.


Graduation Fee

The fee for graduation is $75. This fee covers the cost of degree evaluations, the diploma, and ceremony expenses. If you have not already paid this fee, please contact the Student Financial Services Office, Knapp Hall Room 118 or call 518-255-5539 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) or online through your Banner Web account.


Fees and Fines

All outstanding bills, fees or fines must be paid prior to diplomas being sent. Payments can be made at the Student Financial Services Office, Knapp Hall, Room 118, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays or online through your Banner Web account.


Cap and Gown 

  • Commencement regalia will be available in the College Store beginning on Wednesday, April 1, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Students who cannot pick up their caps and gowns in person may make mail order arrangements through the College Store or by calling 518-255-5227.
  • Bachelor's regalia is priced at $145.00 plus tax (includes gown, discipline hood, tassel and cap).
  • Associate regalia is priced at $90.00 plus tax (includes gown, tassel, and cap).
  • All regalia items will be ticketed for individual sale. Á la carte regalia purchases are available. Please contact the College Store for pricing and availability.
  • Regalia will be available for purchase in the College Store through Commencement day.
  • Orders are non-returnable and non-exchangeable.
  • Please note that gowns, caps, and tassels are your personal property and should be taken with you following Commencement.

Name Card

  • When you pick up your regalia you will receive your name card that will be used to announce your name during the Commencement ceremony.
  • Your name will be printed on the card. Please add phonetic pronunciation, if necessary.
  • Students must bring their name card to the Commencement line-up.

 

No Tickets Needed Unless Event is Moved Inside

  • Commencement is planned for outside, rain or shine. If severe weather makes it necessary to move inside, the College will make an announcement during the week of the event. 
  • In your Commencement regalia packet, each candidate will receive six (6) guest tickets that guests will need if we are indoors. No tickets are needed if we are outdoors.
  • You must have previously confirmed your participation in the ceremony on your graduation application in order to receive your guest tickets.
  • You must have a photo ID and sign to receive your tickets when you pick up you regalia packet from the College Store.
  • If purchasing regalia through mail order you will need to pick up your tickets from the College Store. This can be done the day of the ceremony or prior to Commencement if you are on campus prior to Commencement.
  • Please remind your guests that they need to arrive with tickets in hand in order to be seated.
  • Guests without tickets may watch the ceremony via livestream in Bouck Hall Theater or online.

Diplomas

Diplomas will not be distributed at Commencement. They will be mailed to each graduate's address submitted on graduation application upon certification by the faculty that all graduation requirements have been met.
