Fisheries and Wildlife Overview

The Fisheries, Wildlife and Environmental Science program at SUNY Cobleskill offers students the chance to learn and work in a true living laboratory that, day in and day out, provides indelible lessons and invaluable hands-on experience.

Our first-rate facilities include a North American herpetology lab, a wildlife museum, display aquaria, five aquaponic greenhouses and ten research ponds. Students also help manage our 40,000-gallon cold water fish hatchery – one of the largest in the northeast – as well as our tropical fish hatchery and a warm-water fish and shell fish hatchery. Meanwhile, this area’s numerous streams, lakes and forests provide additional opportunities for hands-on learning.

No matter which degree program a student chooses, the knowledge and skills he or she has acquired at SUNY Cobleskill are not just valued in the Northeast. They are often a springboard to careers across the country.
