Each school district has been provided with a professional Tutor/Mentor to work with students throughout the school day, hired through the Research Foundation of the State University of New York. Each of these dedicated individuals meet with students, as the student’s schedules allow, in a space provided by the school district, dedicated for LPP use.
Working closely with administrators, faculty, and guidance departments of each school, LPP provides to students (and their families, as appropriate):
Academic Support: one-on-one tutoring, PSAT & SAT/ACT preparation, homework assistance, test preparation, study skills development, curriculum enrichment activities, and advocacy on behalf of the student
Personal Development and Counseling: goal setting, mentoring, educational and cultural field trips, volunteer opportunities, motivational counseling, and leadership skill-building activities
College Exploration and Preparation: college tours, admissions and financial aid workshops, FAFSA assistance, college class experiences, and college student shadowing opportunities
Career Exploration and Preparation: access to Career Zone and Career Cruising websites, tours of local businesses, in-school career presentations, and job shadowing opportunities
